Warm Umber Ceramic Tumbler
Handmade by Amy L Zhu.
Each tumbler is individually handmade, so subtle variations in form, surface and finish make every piece slightly different.
The taller, handleless form is particularly suited to drip coffee, leaving room for the coffee to brew directly into the cup while keeping the shape light and comfortable to hold.

About the Maker
Amy L Zhu. is a London-based maker whose practice begins with lived experience and currently finds its primary language in ceramics.
Before making became her primary practice, Amy spent ten years working in marketing in the UK. Her ceramic practice has since developed through learning and making in London, Seto, and Jingdezhen.
Her work explores how experiences can be observed, understood, translated and shared, creating objects that eventually leave the maker's hands to be held, used and lived with by somebody else.
Made for One, or for the Table
This small collection marks the first public launch of Amy L Zhu. ceramics, created in collaboration with Dao Dock around the shared experience of making and enjoying coffee.
Designed with drip coffee in mind, the taller tumbler gives the coffee room to brew while keeping the drinking experience simple and considered. It works just as naturally for a quiet coffee in front of a laptop as it does around a table, where a pot of coffee can be poured and shared between friends.
Each cup is individually thrown and finished by hand. The form is intentionally simple, allowing the warm umber surface and the small differences between each piece to remain visible.
Both the coffee and the cup take a little time. A few minutes to brew, a moment to hold and drink. It works whether you are alone or sharing with others. Together, they turn an everyday coffee into something a little more considered.
